Up-date on convergence space raid

The raid on the convergence space at 627 Smith Avenue is being carried out by the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department, not the St. Paul Police. The sheriff's department is overseen by the Ramsey County Commissioners, not the mayor of St. Paul or the St. Paul City Council.

The council member for the ward, Dave Thune, is on the scene, finding out as much as he can. He's called the sheriff, who says his officers are looking for "material" for an "ongoing investigation". He also says that the county does not have authority to close down the building on a fire code violation (as they apparently have threatened to do). Only the city can close down a building for violations of the fire code.

A lawyer from the National Lawyer's Guild is on the scene, as are many people with cameras. The event is being thoroughly photographed and documented.

convergence center raid

Could someone please send me the whole story, and some photos? I would like to podcast this story, maybe interview someone? and also post pictures on my blog. I'll be at the march on Monday and I'm keeping tabs on what's going on before with the police abusing civil rights, as well as when I'll be documenting it next week. This needs broadcasting.
