Does the FBI have ESP? Law enforcement and the Anoka ATK Lockdown
New information has become available regarding the events on Wednesday, July 2nd when 8 people locked down to the driveway outside ATK (Alliant Tech Systems), a weapons manufacturer in Anoka, MN.
A source within one of the local law enforcement agencies that responded to the situation reports that at approximately 6 AM on the day of the lockdown, an hour and a half before the action took place, they received a call from the FBI to inform them of the impending action. No further information on this call or the response of the agency was made available but there is no immediate reason to not trust this information. It is no secret that law enforcement has stepped up surveillance of local groups ahead of the Republican National Convention as it did before the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York City (do they really need an excuse?).
It is hoped that indymedia readers are reminded that it doesn't matter how benign your actions or plans may be, law enforcement will do whatever it thinks is necessary to learn about them and stop them (or let them happen for their own reasons, in this case). Be prepared for surveillance in the places that you gather and in the information that you transmit. Take a minute and think about the measures that you need to take to keep yourselves safer in the upcoming weeks.

a number of squads were parked behind a black chain-link fence, protected by an electronic reader functioning as the sentinel. I was going to snap a picture of the row of squads, but the sun was shining directly at me, as I was facing west. I headed to the other end of the lot, along the public sidewalk, so that I could be facing the east when I took the picture. When I got to the corner on Emerson I saw a bunch of Minneapolis cops, dressed in tactical gear, loading into an unmarked white van, so I snapped a picture through the fence. I then headed for home. But, I realized this was a pretty cool photo opportunity, so I turned around to take some more pictures. As I approached I realized that the wholesale lingerie van was leaving the parking lot, and headed my way. I grabbed my camera in order to take another picture as their vehicle passed. I found it peculiar that the rear door was open, until I realized they were coming for me. I snapped this last picture to profanities being thrown at me.
