Eat First! Then Smash the State - RNC Food Update
RNC Food Update
Seeds of Peace, Sisters’ Camelot, and Minneapolis Food Not Bombs--with
the help of friendly volunteers--will be providing two nutritious meals
a day beginning a few days before the RNC and continuing through the
convention and a few days into its aftermath. You can help us by working
in the kitchen: chopping vegetables, delivering and serving food,
washing dishes, etc. Additionally, we can use donations of bulk food and
money. Because of the large amount of food we will be preparing,
however, we can only use relatively large quantities of bulk items
(e.g., 25-100, not 5, pounds of rice). Some of the basic bulk items we
will need are:
cases of soy and/or rice milk
25-50 lb. bags of potatoes
25-50 lb. bags of onions
1-5 gallon jugs of oil
1-5 gallon jugs of cooking vinegar
soy sauce
tons and tons of garlic
tea and coffee
25-50 lb. bags of pinto, black, red, and garbanzo beans
tofu and tempeh
sugar
25-50 lb. bags of rice
25-50 lb. bags of flour
25-50 lb. bags of oats
25-50 lb. bags of quinoa, polenta, lentils, and split peas
cases of fresh fruit and vegetables

With stimulus package
With stimulus package Republicans are pushing for business programs while the real needs of the country are in socially-oriented programs (values and jobs). Why, because we are suffering from greed, lack of ethics, profit before principle, consumer addiction to anything new, big and more, deceit, 'meism vs. weism,' aggression and domination in name of 'freedom,' vocational education which almost has no full-time instructors and no connection to jobs, doctors who use the underinsured to entrap patients with huge co-payments, etc., etc. You are getting the picture: yes, we should spend some of $819 billion on modernizing medical industry computers so the industry could become more cost-effective, or on new computer individualized curriculum in educational system which has had discriminatory practices becuase of group teaching in a society which has been too diverse for this method of teaching, or on new sources of energy, and the likes (all naturally with justifications) but still our greatest needs are in business and social programs which can also reverse our fast-waning values-- besides just putting people back to work. If we didn't spend most of stimulus package money on double-edged (values and jobs) social programs vs. single edged (jobs only) business programs , we would end up where we are today again in a few years, loss of jobs, 401Ks, and homes. Send emails to your representives and senators demanding solutions to these underlying problems.
