PEACE ISLAND PICNIC ON HARRIET ISLAND SEPTEMBER 4TH, 2008
When the Balloons Drop for McCain, We'll be Singing in the Sun (or Rain)

ST. PAUL, MN -- As a part of the many alternative festivities populating the Twin Cities during the Republican National Convention, I am pleased to announce the days agenda for Peace Island Picnic 2008, five blocks away from the Excel Energy RNC happenings!

First of all, the picnic is considered a non-partisan, family-friendly event open to any and all that wish to attend. Secondly, the spirit of the day's festivities and demonstrations are to be considered "Pro-Peace", and not "Anti-War".

Those Events will include free food, a Guinness record attempt at the world's largest human peace symbol, a mass "Peace Sing-Along" of classic and modern peace songs, peace kite making and flying, Minnesota TrueBlue Jumbotron programing, Iraq memorial quilt, sunset Drum Jam, Youth Against War and Racism "War Criminals" play, as well as music and words from Palbasha Siddique (SW high school Bengali singer), Robayat (Persian), Batucada do Norte (Brazil), Van Nixon (Reggae), and the peace music and poetry of David Rovics, Tao Rodriquez-Seeger (Grandson of Pete Seeger), Larry Long, Sara Thomsen, Mitch Walking Elk, Louis Alemayehue, Dorene Day, Tuesdays Robot, Coleen Rowley (FBI whistle-blower), and more to come.
