September 1st March on the RNC is Still On! Come Out to Say NO to the War and to the Republican Agenda!
We have had lots of calls to the coalition office asking, "Are the demonstration and march still going as planned?" The answer is YES! The anti-war movement has ALWAYS had a demand of money for human needs not for war, and Hurricane Katrina was one of the reasons for that demand. Hurricane Gustav affects the Republican Party because they don't want to be seen as ignoring another crisis. However the demonstration will be voicing opposition to the war's prioritization above human needs such as building levees, the economy, healthcare, etc. In addition, the RNC will still be in session during our march. Tomorrow we can still give our mesage to the party that supported the war and that supports its continuation. Lets show up in record numbers!
If you want to know who is speaking or to look at maps for parking or other issues please go to marchonrnc.org. We hope to see you there with your friends and family! US Out Now! Money for Human Needs Not for War! Say NO to the Republican Agenda!

Make it a Real Protest. Do not follow the police parade route.
Activists should recognize that the permit requirement for protests is a violation of the first amendment of the US constitution in that it abridges the right to peaceable assembly. The permit process does precisely what it is designed to do: make authentic spontaneous protest illegal.
True grassroots activists should never take out a permit or “work with the authorities” in any manner. There are some important reasons for this: first, permit marches are not protests, a protest is when you do something in protest, something not approved by the person or institution you are protesting against. The idea of asking for permission to protest is absurd.
Permit marches are police controlled parades from start to finish. And if the police feel for any reason they are not in control of the event they will attack it. To ask for a permit to march and to follow the police approved route is to say the police have the power over the protest not the protesters.
By adhering to the permit process the protest is rendered impotent and ineffective before it even occurs. If you have to ask for a permit to exercise a right, you have already lost that right.
So, go to the protest. but make sure you go to a protest and not just another peace parade.
Make history tomorrow. See you in the streets.
agreed
yeah, we have been marching against this war since 2002, 50,000 people, 200,000, sometimes half a million in some cities and they ignored us as always. The rich don't care about us, they don't even want to see what the reality is for real working people in this country.
The only real change will come when we take it, MEET ME AT THE BARRICADES !
