Picket the "November Forecast" with the MN Coalition for a People’s Bailout
Where: MN State Capitol building, outside room G-15
The Forecast is where MN officials announce whether the state has a budget deficit or a surplus. This year, it is expected that the state will have a budget deficit of over $4 billion. We already hear politicians from both sides of the aisle saying nothing but, "cuts, cuts and more cuts." We say not one dime in cuts to poor and working people. If the state needs more money, the state should tax the rich, tax the corporations, demand a just bailout from the feds, or tell some of these big banks to cough up some cash they got from the bailout!
The MN Coalition for a People’s Bailout is getting sponsors for a bill that will, among other things:
--Extend unemployment insurance.
--Increase eligibility for unemployment insurance
--Put a moratorium on the 5-year limit on welfare
--Put a moratorium on foreclosures and evictions from foreclosures
--Put a moratorium on the layoffs of state workers.
--Create prevailing wage jobs immediately.
