Art and Meditation (Visio Divina)

10/07/2008

On Tuesday, October 14 a group dedicated to practicing forms of meditation with visual art will start meeting at Diamonds Café in the Northeast community. The address is 1618 Central Ave NE. We’ll be meeting in the “Gold Room,” the first room on the right as you enter the front entrance.

Because this group is just starting, we’ll try three types of meditation, the first of which is called Visio Divina. We’ll decide, as a group, what form of meditation we’d like to focus on – or alternate among the three, if the group prefers. The group will meet every Tuesday at the same time and place, but if a group seeks to meet at different times, our schedule is flexible.

The groups are sponsored by Trinity United Methodist Church of the Northeast community. Trinity acknowledges that not everyone is called to the church, and neither does it seek to convert anyone. Trinity has, however, discerned that outside an organized religious setting, there’s an absence of space and opportunity for people today to explore their spirituality together as community. Trinity will provide that space, and do so foremost on the groups terms – rather than exclusively its own, based on its religious tradition.

If you’re interested, curious, or have questions, we invite you just to check us out. Or, you can call Trinity’s Community Outreach Worker.
