The Aftermath: Reports from Coldsnap Legal Collective and the RNC Welcoming Committee
Morning Update 9/2 from the RNC Welcoming Committee:
Day one is behind us and the idea of business as usual during the RNC has been shattered.
Monday night a Spokescouncil met and from that gathering the suggestion was made to take time today to reflect, to sleep, and to eat well so that energy is high when folks take to the streets again. We can’t forget though that Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher and the St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman are holding many of our friends hostage.
Coldsnap is working round the clock on the monumental task of jail support and folks have actions planned in solidarity with our imprisoned friends. In addition to your own acts of solidarity, Coldsnap also needs more volunteers to answer their hotline and people to donate legal funds.
Today the Convergence Space will re-open at 10 AM anarchist time and people can hold meetings or gather there as needed. If the National Guard still has the Smith Street bridge closed off, ya’ll can check out some of the other fine bridges in the Twin Cities and take the opportunity to ride along the Mississippi and enjoy. Lunch will be served as scheduled at 1 PM.
After checking out the other events going on around twin cities today we welcome folks to extend their solidarity with the Poor People’s Economic Human Rights Campaign - the March For Our Lives - which begins at 4 PM in Mears Park in St Paul. More information can be found here:

PS. Someone passed on the rumor that the Comms team will be back up and running tomorrow. Hope you’re ready to be twittered.

Update from Coldsnap Legal on the morning of September 2:
On the first day of the Republican National Convention, the people were out in the streets expressing their resistance and frustration with the imperialist capitalist system. The Coldsnap Legal Collective is an autonomous collective whose purpose is to educate, empower, and support the radical community. We have developed a network of legal support and solidarity for the RNC arrestees and are committed to providing support to everyone throughout the anti-RNC actions. On the first day of RNC action, hundreds were arrested as they publicly expressed their dissent, many of whom were the victims of extensive police brutality. Many people were cited and released on the streets, though scores of people have been brought to and held at the Ramsey County Law Enforcement Center. Some arrestees within the jail are currently engaging in non-cooperation strategies, including refusing to give their names and identifying information to the jail officials. The arrestees from the weekend raids continue to be held.
Thusfar, 61 people have been released from jail, and more are expected to be released throughout the day. We have set up a round-the-clock jail vigil outside the Ramsey County jail, where we are greeting released arrestees and providing legal, medical, and material support. There are a handful of individuals within the jail who are being denied medical attention. Coldsnap is asking for people to call the jail at 651.266.9350 or the St. Paul Mayor’s office at 651.266.8510 and demand that all arrestees receive proper treatment and access to medical services. Additionally, we demand that all protesters are immediately released and that all charges are dropped. We have scheduled two upcoming arrestee meetings to provide information and legal support for our community. Check our website at www.coldsnaplegal.org for details. Coldsnap needs volunteers both in the legal office and at the jail vigil. If you are available to help out, call the legal hotline at 651.356.8635 or show up at the Ramsey County Law Enforcement Center at Lafayette and Grove, St. Paul.

In solidarity
Thanks for all the calls to both the jail and the mayor's office! I haven't been able to talk to someone--or even leave a message--but it's because they've received so much of a public response and thus must be cowards and stonewall the bad press from the people.
I've been able to keep abreast of the RNC protests all the way over in the hinterlands of Idaho because of the amazing work indymedia does--especially in the Twin Cities and with the streaming radio offered by folks in Portland. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
The police crackdown demonstrates that our reclaiming the media is a successful affront to the status quo. Much respect to all of you in custody and out on the streets awaiting your friends in jail.

Cops = 1 Protestors = 0
The cops keep winning and sticking you in jail since you play by their rules. . . the ironic thing is the cops don't even play by their rules. . .they just hope you are stupid enough to play by their rules. . . Do the Visitors go to the Home team and ask them what defense/offense they should play? Clearly that is what you have been doing. That is why the score will be Cops = 1 Protestors = 0. . . . at the finish of the game.
Police Harassment - How To Deal With The Situation

This may sound crazy to those who have no idea how the law works, but it works. I have filed numerous complaints against judges in this state. In fact my last complaint was against a Supreme Court Justice. A judge is responsible for maintaining the peace and sanctity (MS 484.07 annotated) of the day. Which means that they are not allowed to let the cops harass people. If they tolerate that behavior you have a duty to report them. I made the front page of the March 14, 2007 edition of the Willmar paper arresting a judge. They have regretted that headline ever since as I have repeatedly used it to my advantage.
A judge is a lawyer first so you need to file your complaint with the Board on Judicial Standards and the Lawyer's Professional Responsibility Board. Below are some links to fliers you can print out. Follow the instructions and the cops will leave you alone.
WHAT TO DO IF STOPPED BY A COP:
1. Immediately Demand To See A Judge (Courts Are Presumed To Be
Open 24/7 - 365 Days/Per Year.) Why Argue Complex Legal Issues
With Someone With Average Intelligence?
2. If Refused, Tell The Cop: "Thank You, You Have Just Earned Your
Judges A Complaint With The Board Of Judicial Standards. A Complaint Will Be Filed As Soon As I Am Released.”
3. Ignore Any And All Threats And Attempts At Intimidations.
4. Do Not Even Give Your Name. Anything You Say Or Write, Even Your
Name Can Be Used Against You In Court Or As A Psychological Weapon
Against You. Give Your Name Only To The Judge.
5. On Every Piece Of Paper Presented To You Write: “Void: Signed
Under Threat, Duress, and Coercion” Sign It With Your First And Last
Name But Replace Your Middle Name With “Duress.”
6. Refuse A Lawyer.
7. Tell The Judge "I Am Arresting You For Obstruction Of Justice." Ignore Any And All Threats And Attempts At Intimidations From The Judge. Ignore Any Court "Rulings" As They Are Invalid. Good Job!

What will a petition accomplish? Answer: Nothing. If you are going sign something file a complaint against the local judges for failing to maintain the peace and quietude in Minneapolis. This a complaint in which could cause the judge to lose their reputation, job, advancement, or even a higher office. A complaint must be answered by law. There is no legal obligation to answer a petition.
BEWARE OF THE COP DISINFORMATION SQUADS who call everyone a “TROLL” and Say good ideas are "bad" ideas. . .
COPS ARE HYPOCRITES since they claim to represent the law but instead are nothing but paid low intelligent incompetent thugs who refuse to obey the law. And they work for even more crooked judges and lawyers. Who else would want low intelligent incompetent thugs wearing a badge and gun? And then they have the gall to complain when people file a complaint about their criminal activity.
