Annoynmous Statement by Anarchists Planning Civil Disobediance

Fellow Americans & Freedom Fighters,

Make no mistake, every attendee of the Republican National Convention from politicians to their cheerleaders are actively complicit in the coercion and violence of state power. The brutality of the police witnessed friday and saturday against lawyers and reporters is not surprising, it is rather business as usual. Apologists for our police state have never bothered with moral justifications for their violence, now we see that they don't even bother with legal ones.

Those planning civil disobedience to impede the warmongers descending upon our city are acting in self-defense to re-secure the liberties of all Americans.

In the face of the devastation of global climate change that we see in Hurricane Gustav and the deliberate assaults upon survivors of Katrina organizing with the Poor People's march, those of us gathered in the Twin Cities have decided to continue with our plans to impede the Republican National Convention. Further we call upon those in the Gulf to stand firm against police intimidation and the mercenary forces getting ready to re-occupy New Orleans. Anarchist and Anti-Authoritarian aid groups like Food Not Bombs, Common Grounds and various medic affinity groups are digging in to provide aid to those abandoned by our capitalist government.

What is violence?

Everywhere I look on mainstream media for coverage on the Occupied Twin Cities, all I see is accusations of 'criminal anarchists', 'most demonstrators hoped for a peaceful rally, but some took on extreme measures' or some other crap like that, then they go on to list or show video of all the "unlawful and violent" actions of these apparent hooligans: breaking a Macy's shop window, pounding on RNC delegate buses, even throwing a brick through one, running, jumping, screaming, cursing, wearing weird clothes, overturning garbage cans or burning them, even, *gasp* dancing!

Proportionally, those anarchists are getting a lot more coverage than ANYBODY else in Minneapolis/St. Paul this week, even more than the DNC speakers themselves. The media makes it look like they're EVERYWHERE!!!

wow. apparently the media is working in cahoots with the FBI-Sheriff-Police gang to make innocent little Minnesotans fear all political dissent. The raids were meant to associate the Welcoming Committee and others with "criminals" and the coverage was meant to depict "criminals" as taking over the city. So they can say: "See? We told you so."

Well, my question is: do these anarchists ever hurt anyone? no! they destroy property and make noise. The media should turn their cameras on the real culprits: the police who are violently attacking people, often unprovoked, injuring innocent people left and right with near-deadly weapons. The anarchists are nothing for them to be afraid of. Why is it so difficult to round up a few rowdy kids? Why do they need to attack so many innocent people?

It just riles me when I hear people say they don't like how activists like in the Animal and Earth Liberation Front "resort to violent extremism", saying they don't need to blow things up. Wake up, people! blowing 'things' up is the whole point. The real killers are the corporations and governments that slaughter animals, people and the earth all in the name of control. Anarchists work to stop them by destroying their tools. Anarchists aren't evil, they're fed up. They learned long ago that the only way to be heard is to be seen. Cops learned long ago that the only way to keep people quiet is to injure and kill them. There's no comparison! The real threat of anarchists, since the 1800s, is their all-out rejection of the system. Since most of us can't understand that, it's easier to believe and accept the depictions given to us by the media and cops.

Macy's can handle a broken window. Who can handle a pepper-sprayed child? Which action is violent? Which action is legal?

Damage to property well that's money, okay so, shrinkage accrued cost a few thou sound...not hurting the politicians or those you or anyone else are protesting.... but the family that owns it or the employees who work there. So any store damage hurts the middle class through shrinkage. Then lets see there is state damage or damage to state property that's tax money coming out of our pockets better used to fix roads. Then there is private property that effects the home of the owners that have to pay for it. In this day in age, not a lot of people can even afford small amounts of damage. If you can, great help some of the people that have been hurt by hurricanes and such things. Okay, so a mom who has to chose between clothes and food or say maybe fixing damage to their home or the mom and pop shop they own....well, that makes things a little different. I know Macy's window right, what does....blab bla bla...
One question what part did Macy's play in this... where the employees out there betting up the protesters or something? Why attack a store.…(put answer here if you can)

If police attack protesters then report them I know it doesn’t sound like much, I know you just could do so many other things….but the only thing you can really do is report it make sure everyone is aware because… even though you or that mother (what was a mom doing letting her child go to a protest anyways? I‘m sure your not talking about a collage student, because with the way you said put it, it made me think of a six year old) may be hurt, the officer could pay through federal process. Where they could be suspended without pay or discharged or even jail time for the attempt. (subject to the law just like everyone else) Just the attention to it alone will be enough for them to get suspended….No one likes bad press.
