Film "Fresh" at the Birchwood Cafe

Fresh, the documentary by Ana Joanes that has everyone talking, celebrates the farmers, thinkers and businesspeople across America who are re-inventing our food system. FRESH features urban farmer/ activist Will Allen of Growing Power, the recipient of a 2008 MacArthur Genius Grant and sustainable farmer Joel Salatin of Omnivore's Dilemma fame. I love this film; it offers inspiring real-life stories of real-life local foods heroes working hard every day toward a shared vision of an American food system that is environmentally sustainable, socially just, healthy, and tastes good too. If you'd like dinner before the show, come early, the kitchen closes at 8 pm. Tickets are $10 ( local snacks gratis, cash bar -local beer!- before and during the film). Seating is limited, you can purchase tickets in advance at the counter of by calling 612-722-4474 w/ a credit card.
