Direct Action Network - Join the Struggle

As we resist our evictions and continue fighting powerful banks like Wells Fargo, the Minnesota Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign is calling on all of those who support our struggle to join the Direct Action Network. Our community is growing stronger now that we're getting organized, but we still need a lot of support from our friends and supporters. We know that we're all in this together, and we would much prefer Minneapolis to be one big community, ready and able to provide support for those in need.  We've creeated a twitter account - http://twitter.com/DirectActionNet - so that we can reach supporters quickly in case of an unexpected eviction and plan ahead for other important actions, When the sheriff's department comes to remove us from our homes we will need all of the support we can get, and fast. So sign on to the Direct Action Network's twitter account to receive important updates on your cell phone.

We know that we won't be able to empower our community so long as our neighbors lack basic resources, like food.  That's why we created the Underground Railroad Project, a network of supporters who can provide help with day-to-day needs of members. We encourage anyone interested in helping in this way to call our office and come to the next meeting of the Underground Railroad Project.

We also would like to announce a few upcoming events.

First, we will be joining our friends from the Minnesota Coalition for a People's Bailout on Saturday, June 13th at 11 a.m.  on Lake Street at Clinton Ave, demanding a moratorium on evictions.  Come and show your support.

Rosemary Williams will appear in court on June 16th, at 1:30 for her motion hearing. The judge will decide whether her case will be going to trial or not. We have to pack the courthouse to support Rosemary and keep the pressure on.  Meet us at the Hennepin County Government Center on Tuesday so we can keep the momentum going.

Lastly, one month ago, MN PPEHRC held a sit-in at the office of Wells Fargo to demand that they renegotiate the adjustable rate mortgages of MN PPEHRC member Ann Patterson. They promised to be prepared for renegotiation by no later than June 5th. That deadline passed and they claim to be too busy to help Ann keep her home.  Now, we're setting our own deadline - and the clock is ticking. Now we're ready to escalate our campaign. See the press release attached, and stay tuned.

Don't forget to join the Direct Action Network - http://twitter.com/DirectActionNet

But unfortunately, we're not

But unfortunately, we're not all that tech savvy. If you are having problems "following" our twitter updates, check back later. Sorry.

using twitter

The easiest way to get text message updates on your cell phone is to do
the following:

Send a text message from your cell phone to: 40404 (as if it were a phone
number) with the message message: follow DirectActionNet

If you have used twitter before you will get a confirmation.

If you haven't twittered before you will get a reply back asking for a
username. After you reply to this text message with any name you want,
Twitter creates a mobile-only account for you and you'll start receiving
your updates.

You can also set up a twitter account online at:

so the most non-anarchist

so the most non-anarchist group in town decides to use the name of anarchist initiated project for their name? hmmmmm

What happened to solidarity?

Instead of making distinctions between those who are "anarchist" and those other people who are organizing in their community to fight capitalist exploitation and state repression, I think those of us who want to build a world free of exploitation and oppression should recognize our commonalities and put minor differences aside. We can start by keeping divisive thoughts out of public forums.
