An Evening of Reparations

12/06/2009 18:58

Mark your calendars!  On the eve of Sunday, Dec 6th local decolonization
group Unsettling Minnesota will host "An Evening of Reparations" at the
Intermedia Arts Center located at 2822 Lyndale Avenue South in
Minneapolis. YOU are invited to come!

"An Evening of Reparations" is a chance to come together and enjoy an
evening of entertainment, with a little dose of history.  Through genocide
and land theft, the Dakota Oyate currently control less than 1% of their
original landbase.  This event is a chance to help raise funds for ongoing
Dakota land reclamation and cultural projects, a chance to stand in
solidarity with the original people of this land, and to build a stronger
base for local decolonization movement.  All funds raised will go directly
towards a Dakota-organized land project for a traditional maple sugar
bush and wild rice camp. We are also holding a silent
auction, so come ready to bid on local artisan crafts and services.

Our doors will be open at 6:00pm, dinner till 8:30.  Stick around
afterwards for dancing to live music at the masquerade ball beginning at
9:00! This event will be 18+ with wine and beer catering by the Bedlam
Theater.  Tickets for a full meal with dessert and drink are $25.
Masquerade ball tickets $10.  To RSVP (and please do!) email
eveningofreparations@gmail.com with RSVP in the subject line.  Also,
please email if you have any questions.

If you'd like to buy your tickets before the event (which helps us out a lot!), tickets are available at these places, so far:
Mayday Cafe (3440 Bloomington Ave)
Mayday Books (301 Cedar Avenue South, downstairs)
Arise Books (2441 Lyndale Avenue South)
Fast and Furless (2615 E Franklin Avenue)

Or if you use Paypal, email us at eveningofreparations@gmail.com, let us know what email to use, and we'll send you an invoice!

In the spirit of justice, compassion, and solidarity!

Yours truly,

Unsettling Minnesota
