Call Out to Crafty People for the RNC 8!

Plans are in the works for a craft sale to benefit the RNC 8 Legal Defense Fund and Isis Rising. If you enjoy arts and crafts, genuine democracy and human rights, then it’s time to get out your hot-glue gun and your knitting needles!

The sale will take place all day on Saturday, December 12th, at Walker Community Church in South Minneapolis. Artists/crafters are asked to pay a minimum 30% commission to the organizers, and are encouraged to contribute more. Proceeds will be split between the RNC8 Legal Defense Fund and Isis Rising. Display space, pricing, cashiers and advertising will be provided.

If you are interested in selling items at the sale (or donating items to be sold) and would like to receive more information as it is available, please email craftsale2009@gmail.com or call Emily at (651) 280-0889.

If you can’t crochet your way out of a paper bag, but are interested in buying local, handmade holiday gifts while putting your money somewhere worthwhile, mark your calendars and watch for more event details coming soon!

The RNC 8

are eight activists facing felony conspiracy charges as a result of organizing they did around protests against the Republican National Convention in Saint Paul last year.  These people face prison time for exercising their first amendment rights and are now involved in a legal process that is moving at a shamefully slow pace.  These eight lives (along with the lives of their many supporters) have been focused on legal defense and building community support for more than a year.  To learn more or to donate to RNC 8 Defense, visit

Isis Rising (Incarcerated Women’s Doula Network), implemented by Everyday Miracles, is a program of pregnancy, birth and parenting support for incarcerated women currently serving time at the Shakopee Women’s Prison. To learn more or to donate to Isis Rising, visit http://www.everyday-miracles.org/isis.shtml.
