Attention Mediamakers: Was Your Media Confiscated Or Were You Assaulted By the Cops? Call Us

Citizen media is not a crime!  But the police and military occupying Pittsburgh during the G-20 have made it out to be.

Have you had your footage, photographs, or media equipment seized or damaged by police, or were you assaulted by police while trying to film?  Or do you have footage of police assaulting media?  Call us at 917-650-2486.  By collectively going public with these abuses, we have a better chance of retrieving what is rightfully ours and preventing it from happening again.

We've heard of several reports of gross violations of Freedom of the Press, particularly during Friday's nights mass arrests in Oakland.  One arrested videographer had her camera smashed and the footage confiscated before she even reached the jail, with no receipt given.  Another independent videographer was punched in the face by police, but managed to keep his footage. Even a Post-Gazette reporter was arrested while wearing Convention Center credentials around her neck; clearly, the police don't want the public to see raw footage of their conduct Friday night.

We're planning an upcoming press conference and further action to publicize the police's disregard for the constitutionally protected rights of all journalists. Our demands: return all footage and media equipment now!

Call to report and participate: 917-650-2486
