Defense Alliance Protest
Today protesters gathered outside of Lockheed Martin Tactical Systems to protest the annual Defense Alliance Roundtable. Project to Stop the War Industry released this statement:
Today members of the Defense Alliance of Minnesota are meeting at Lockheed Martin Tactical Systems to discuss ways to “nurture and expand” Minnesota’s defense industry. The Minnesota Defense Alliance is a group of 400+ Minnesota corporations who have come together with the goal of expanding Minnesota’s defense industry through networking and lobbying.
Unending war and occupation are in the best interest of the Alliance members and other defense contractors who are vying for these government contracts. This year more than 2000 defense contracts have been issued to private corporations totaling $175,426,147,172. We are here today to say no to the expansion of the Minnesota defense industry and no to the ongoing collusion between contractors and government officials. No more war, no more war profiteering.
Here are a few of the members of the Alliance along with the dollar value of their government contracts issued since 10/30/06
Alliant Tech Systems $1,079,198,013
BAe Systems $15,062,075,061
General Dynamics $25,752,527,348
