Update: Judge orders GMAC to meet with Rosemary Williams

Update from comments: First, there is good news. The judge has ordered a representative of GMAC to meet with Rosemary tomorrow, June 17th, the goal being for them to arrange a deal in which Rosemary can stay in her home at an affordable rate. This does not mean that they will reach a deal, but it does mean that if a deal is not reached the eviction will not happen until - at the soonest - next Wedensday, June 24th.

If a resolution is reached on Wednesday, June 17th there will be a block party on Rosemary's block.

Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan thinks it’s necessary to temporarily nationalize some banks. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke in recent statements has indicated that the nationalization of some banks may be necessary under certain conditions, and many economic analysts believe nationalization is only a matter of time; however, socialists nationwide say nationalization of all U.S. banks is now necessary to achieve a national economic recovery.

Once again Stewart A. Alexander is rejecting the continuous flow of U.S. dollars to bailout banks and corporate America; instead, Stewart Alexander says any public funds should go to local communities to help working people, creating jobs in the building and construction industry. While running as the vice presidential candidate for Socialist Party USA, Alexander charged that the government bailouts amounted to a temporary fix for the struggling U.S. economy.

Community meeting wants action on saving foreclosed homes

By Ed Felien

A community meeting of around 60 people met at Walker Church Saturday, November 22 to discuss the current economic crisis and try to understand what it will mean to the most vulnerable in our community.

Karen Redleaf explained in simple terms how speculators gambling on bundles of subprime mortgages were able to bankrupt major commercial banking houses.
