Brian White Convicted of the Murder of Useless Wooden Toys' Singer Christopher Johnson

Thursday the jury came to a verdict of guilty for Brian P. White, in the June 2008 stabbing death of Useless Wooden Toys' singer, Christopher Johnson.

When Useless Wooden Toys, a skate thrash band from Minneapolis, played a show at a house in Bloomington, Indiana in late June 2008 they never imagined that this show might be their last or that they would lose one of their lead singers that night.

Brian White, of Bloomington, was at the house party.  White repeatedly groped Bonnie Bergling, who was a childhood friend of several members of Useless Wooden Toys.  Chris Johnson intervened, first with words and when words failed a physical fight broke out.

Brian White lost the fight, and was asked to leave because of his behavior.  White, however, did not leave.  Witnesses said he went from room to room in the house, obviously upset from losing the initial fight.

We've had multiple recent deaths at the hands of police and many, many incidents of brutality, house raid, etc. Minneapolis police are out of control! Come to a forum to discuss what can be done to reign in the Minneapolis police and make them more accountable to the community.

The police have murdered yet another member of our community. Once again the victim was a person of color, Ahmed Guled a young Somali.

As usual the police are attempting to justify continuous attacks on the citizenry by calling the victim a criminal and labeling their actions as "justifiable homicide."

The authorities have a history of lying about the facts in similar incidents so we will not provide them any benefit of doubt in this incident, nor the murders of citizens that our sure to happen in the future until the community comes together to stop it.

I am so angry and frustrated about what's happening in the Twin Cities this week. Not at the cops - obviously it's horrible what they're doing, but they're just doing what's to be expected of them. If you're surprised by their response to the protests, you've been deluding yourself about the state of civil liberties and freedoms in this country for the last 4 years, at least.
