Minnehaha Free State--11 Years Later

Between August of 1998 and December of 1999, activists occupied neighborhood homes scheduled for demolition and parkland that was to be destroyed by highway construction. They lived in tepees, makeshift huts, tents and trees over two very cold Minnesota winters. They gathered petitions, shot "witness videos", attended hundreds of public hearings, educated the community, sat in trees they were trying to save, and participated in numerous acts of civil disobedience.

The free tour will visit the site of the Minneapolis Central Labor Union’s 1934 headquarters on First Avenue North, along with former coal yard sites on NE Harrison Street, West Broadway, East 24th Street and Lyndale Avenue. The lightning 3-day coal strike was the first of three strikes in 1934 by Minneapolis truck drivers and inside workers that "Made Minneapolis a Union Town."

Bike Scavenger Hunt Explosion 2008!

Saturday, October 11th 11am-3pm

A bike scavenger hunt that will lead you to the best radical history
spots, bizarre places, and more! With prizes!

Start preparing the loyalty tests and blood oaths! Yes, it's time to
choose your teammates. You can have up to four people on your team,
but only one digital camera. Violators will be prosecuted under the
Bike Scavenger Freedom Act, subclause 19.756.

Goal: To score the most points and win a coveted prize!
