Modern law enforcement tactics increasingly emphasize the use of “less-lethal”
weapons over the direct application of lethal force. Among the most commonly
deployed are incapacitating tools such as pepper spray, tasers, and batons. While
often promoted as being virtually harmless, these weapons can actually be quite
dangerous but with proper knowledge and preparation many of their effects can be

pattrice jones, nationally known ecofeminist educator and activist, and author of Aftershock: Confronting Trauma in a Violent World: A Guide for Activists and Their Allies, will present a workshop for activists focusing on dealing with stress and grief. Admission is free and open to the public. pattrice helps to operate the Eastern Shore Sanctuary in rural Maryland and teaches speech at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
