On Tuesday August 4th at 1:30 PM, the man who was convicted of felony escape in the 'unarrest incident'  at the RNC will be sentenced by Judge VanDeNorth.  Want to know who he is?  Come meet him in person and provide court support.

Jesse James Forrey, arrested at last September's RNC protests began trial this Monday. After waiting 11 months, forced to remain in the Twin Cities rather than his home in Santa Cruz, CA, Jesse is about to defend his innocence in front of Judge Paulette Flynn at the Ramsey County Courthouse in downtown Saint Paul. Jesse is facing a felony charge of criminal damage to property and up to five years in jail. His trial will likely last two to three days and all are welcomed to attend. Jesse deserves and needs our support!

Once again, the Arise! Books collective is hosting a series of free weekly events all summer long!  Events start each sunday night at 8pm, ending with a film screening in the backyard after sundown.

August 9 :  Class, privilege, activism and cupcakes

Open houses are planned for August to release the evaluation results for the three potential Southwest LRT lines. The evaluation includes ridership forecasts, cost estimates, cost-effectiveness calculations, transit mobility measures, and an inventory of potentially affected critical environmental resources. This information will be used to select the preferred LRT route, which is called the Locally Preferred Alternative or LPA.

Opponents of torture will rally at the University of St. Thomas School of Law, 1000 LaSalle Ave (LaSalle and 10^th St.), Minneapolis, on Monday, August 24, 9 – 11 AM to bring letters and voices of discontent to Dean Thomas Mengler regarding Professor Robert Delahunty.  Prior to his current stint as professor of constitutional law for St.Thomas University, Delahunty, along with John Yoo, authored an infamous memo (1/9/02) for the U.S.
